Solome Nakaweesi is a Pan-African feminist activist, active participant, and analyst within the women’s rights, gender and human rights movements that has played a fundamental role in supporting the emergence of progressive social movements and organizing in Africa and Internationally. Currently, Solome is an International Development Consultant specialised in progressive social movement building, feminist organising, strategic planning, organisational development, transformative leadership, fundraising and resource mobilisation, human rights and governance. Previously, Solome has worked as Executive Director of Akina Mama wa Afrika, Executive Director of Uganda Women’s Network, Chief Executive Officer of Nnabagereka Development Foundation, Chief of Staff of the TDA Go Forward Campaign, Lecturer at Makerere University, Lecturer at Nkumba University and an External Research Supervisor for Noragric University, Norway. Solome has a proven track record in kick starting, reviving, and running successful organizations, institutions and being part of social movements and associations. She has been at the centre of designing, co-creating, running, anchoring and lead facilitating several leadership development programmes for women, girls, young people and marginalised groups. Solome sits on several Boards viz: Board Chair of Forum for Women in Democracy, Board Vice Chair of the African Institute of Investigative Journalism, Africa Regional Advisor for CREA, Coalition Steering Committee Chairperson of the Selfcare Trailblazer Group of PSI International and Board Secretary for the Gombe Investment Club of Gombe SSS Alumnus. From her work and agency, Solome has won several national and international awards including Ugandan Professional Woman of the Year awarded by the British Council Leadership Forum and the Change Makers East Africa Transformative Leadership Award by Women Direct.
